On Saturday, Dec 21st a small group of T5 scouts and adults hiked Mt Tamalpais as part of the Rim of the Bay series of hikes. It was a challenging, yet pleasant hike of 8.5 miles with 1800′ of elevation changes. We were treated to nice views of San Francisco and the North Bay.
We departed Palo Verde at 8:30, arrived at the Mt Tamalpais Pan Toll parking lot at 10 and hit the trail by 10:30. Reached the West Point Inn at noon, from there took the Old Railroad Grade fire road to the Fern Creek trail, which was slightly steeper and more difficult than if we had just taken the Old Railroad Grade trail directly. We reached the East Peak summit by 1pm., ate lunch, departed the summit by 1:30 and reached the starting point by 3:30.
